Dinky Days Photography wins International Newborn Photographer of the Year award.
Wait… did that just happen?
I’m so excited to be able to share that I have been awarded the prestigious title of International Newborn Photographer of the Year with The Society of Photographers .
I love going to awards events! It’s an amazing opportunity to meet up with all my friends in the photography industry, to be wowed by the beautiful images that are awarded. To learn, to grow as a photographer and keep the dream going.

And this year, it finally happened with this image which is so special to me. It’s a portrait of triplets, my first newborn trio, curled up together and showing the special bond they have and will always have!
Mum was so happy at the session and adores every image of her sweet boys.

How I Became A Photographer
I think it was written in the stars that I would become a photographer. It feels like it’s in my blood. In my family, Dad was a photographer. I remember seeing his photos when I was a little girl, and loving the stories they told. Looking back on every printed image has me re-living those moments.
Once I had my own children, I was the one with the phone in my hand all the time, photographing every moment! I got my first “proper” camera in 2012, a surprise present from my hubby. He knows me so well, and it was this that saw the start of Dinky Days Photography in 2013, and my path to becoming an award winning newborn photographer!

I had two small boys when I first started Dinky Days, and my third little man arrived two years later. So it made sense that I photographed babies and children – I had my own models to practice on.
Newborn photography isn’t something that you can pick up with a few instructions. I started simple, and then spent years doing courses, workshops and 1:1 mentoring to be able to achieve what I do today – beautiful portraits of newborns, posed in safe and comfortable ways that look amazing in a photograph.
Why Competitions and Awards?

In 2019 I entered my first competitions. I didn’t do it for the award really. My aim was to have my images looked at by a panel of judges, so I could hear their feedback and improve so my clients would get the very best work I can produce. The awards are nice too, though!

The first year of entering, I won Newborn Photographer of the Year in Europe, which I was awarded again in 2022. I also entered the prestigious WPPI Competition which is held in Las Vegas, and came third place in the newborn category. This was amazing, and really lit the fire in me to keep doing better!
We all know what happened in 2020 and 2021 – let’s not talk about it. But when the photography industry events got going again, I was back entering competitions! The Society of Photographers is an international organisation, based in the UK, and it became my goal – maybe my obsession – to do well. In 2023 I was nominated as International Newborn Photographer of the Year, which was HUGE and so exciting. But I’m really determined.. and entered again for 2024. And in January 2025, when the whole of 2024’s entered images – thousands of entries – were judged, I did it! I won!
I stood on stage, convincing myself I didn’t get it… to then hear ‘and the winner is….the girl who never thought she’d win it… AIMEE-JO AHMED!’
Immediately I was shaking, I did not think this could be real! I am beyond proud of this achievement.
My Clients Are Everything
To win is incredible, it is so heartwarming to be recognised in the industry that I love so much. I cannot even put it into words how much I adore it.
However, I’m don’t do this job to chase awards. It’s lovely to be rewarded, but my favourite part of being a newborn photographer always will be my lovely clients. I truly appreciate every single one of them.
I become friends with so many of them, and when the little ones return and I get the title ‘Auntie Aimee’, I do a happy dance every single time.
Thankyou to every single client who puts their trust in me to create their precious newborn portraits, here’s to 2025 and many more!
If you feel myself at Dinky Days Photography could be the Photographer for you, please don’t hesitate to send over a message/Whatsapp or call to 07412591460 and I’ll be right with you.
